You spoke volumes of what the application process can mean, and the affect of being on the waitlist. This is why I posted a message on FB last Monday about what I wished everyone in the DEN to understand. That just because you are not initially accepted, you are still a valuable part of the DEN. I was fairly sure I was going to be waitlisted this year. It amazes and humbles me that I wasn't, especially when I see who is on that waitlist. Thank you for sharing a link to your post! My heart goes out to everyone on the "dreaded" waitlist. Your post is wonderful encouragement!Debhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04499110941683096922noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7937826264777363898.post-90575768097085418352014-03-10T09:40:17.873-07:002014-03-10T09:40:17.873-07:00You're fantastic Francie! You're fantastic Francie!ITRThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01611310090699836487noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7937826264777363898.post-19648257955427169982014-02-16T15:36:49.256-08:002014-02-16T15:36:49.256-08:00I bet I have watched this video at least six or se...I bet I have watched this video at least six or seven times while editing it and I can not believe I missed this. At the beginning of the video I ask the students to Sum It Up or give me to five words for the story The Lorax. Cody said,<br />"He speaks for the trees," which is five words that explain the main point of the story. This was not the direction I wanted to go so for our activity and I did feel it necessary to guide him to choose just one word. Still his answer was brilliant and I need to let him know I think so. This project has become less of a "project" and more of a way of a re-framing learning process for both me and my students. I will continue to prove that 7 and 8 year olds can be part of this process and have a voice that is important to the world. Thanks for sharing your vast level of knowledge and mentoring us though the process- Carolyn WingetCarolynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18355439409426303973noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7937826264777363898.post-43334726597519738652012-05-16T08:06:14.901-07:002012-05-16T08:06:14.901-07:00First of all, thank you for your comment. I totally agree with your statement that the evidence is there that learning is taking place, but am also feeling the need to do a better job of being transparent so others see that learning as well. Truly, feel this burden of reorganizing and documentation belongs to me and not my students. Although it will effect them my goal will be to only add elements that will deepen their understanding. I am looking at some sort of portfolio (most likely ePortfolio) system where there is some room for self, peer and ultimately my evaluations/reflections. Feel that a ton of higher order thinking skills could be built into a piece like that.Digiduchesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10756301314914189549noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7937826264777363898.post-23589280049764950932012-05-16T06:30:13.940-07:002012-05-16T06:30:13.940-07:00Great post. I have found that when first introducing project based learning, my students at first freak out but then buckle down and produce some amazing things that I could not envision. Learning takes place and there is evidence to back it up without the need for a bubble test!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02298670926678834970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7937826264777363898.post-25139485875573755182012-04-23T06:29:44.065-07:002012-04-23T06:29:44.065-07:00First I am sorry this has taken me so long to repl...First I am sorry this has taken me so long to reply to. Thank you for sharing. We are involved in ROW 14 this spring and are really looking forward to it. In fact, as we began to animate my goal was to have them practice individually and then work together on the smart board for a well thought through unified class animation. In the end we ran out of time and used the individual animation they had done. As I pieced them together I realized that although they were rough, they fit together beautifully and were a much truer reflection of the students. Trusting their creativity is key but not always easy or simple to do. Teaching is such a work in progress!ktarnashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00214973058102757903noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7937826264777363898.post-32286418555993895812010-11-12T20:56:49.737-08:002010-11-12T20:56:49.737-08:00I have to agree, learning WITH the students was an...I have to agree, learning WITH the students was an amazing experience. We watched tutorials together. At one point, I told students I had no idea how to use "Advanced-ish.) The next class, I sat with one group, watched a tutorial with them, and we learned together. Later, with another group, I showed them how to make a motion track in Advanced-ish. One girl said to me, "I thought you didn't know how to do this." To which I LOVED replying, "I didn't. I just learned with Ethan and Ian!"<br />~Jayme JohnsonAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7937826264777363898.post-35025917342548422542010-11-11T11:57:01.811-08:002010-11-11T11:57:01.811-08:00Dear Oneco!

We are so excited to have worked with you! <br /> I'm going to share your blog with the rest of the international team. I love what you said about the video chats. It's true, allowing simple, real communication to take place is what builds strong relationships!
